Our people

Modern slavery, wellbeing & help for people

Cleaning is a people industry. How we treat the team behind every job matters as much as the job itself — here's what we commit to, for our staff and anyone who works on a Kriss site.

Zero tolerance on modern slavery

We comply with the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015. Every cleaner is directly employed by Kriss — we never use unchecked labour agencies — with right-to-work checks, contracts in plain English and pay at or above the Real Living Wage.

Fair pay & transparent contracts

All staff receive a written contract, payslips, holiday pay and statutory entitlements. No cash-in-hand, no unpaid trial shifts, no withheld documents. Suppliers we work with are vetted against the same standards.

Wellbeing & mental health support

Our team has access to confidential mental-health support, regular 1-to-1 check-ins with a manager, paid sick leave and reasonable adjustments for health, caring or family needs.

Speak-up & help line

Any worker, client or member of the public can confidentially raise a concern about modern slavery, harassment, safety or welfare by emailing hello@krissprocleaning.co.uk or calling the UK Modern Slavery & Exploitation Helpline free on 08000 121 700. Reports are taken seriously and never retaliated against.

Worried about someone? You can also call the UK Modern Slavery & Exploitation Helpline free, 24/7, on 08000 121 700. Our full Modern Slavery statement is available on request via our contact page.

£5,000,000 public liability insurance

Every commercial cleaning contract we carry out — offices, communal areas or construction — is covered by £5m public liability cover. Certificate of insurance is available on request before any contract starts.

DBS-checked, employed staff

All Kriss cleaners are directly employed by us (we do not subcontract), DBS-checked, uniformed and carry photo ID on every visit.

RAMS for commercial & construction sites

We provide Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) on request for office, commercial and after-builders sites, and our staff are equipped with site-appropriate PPE.

COSHH-compliant products

We use COSHH-compliant cleaning products. Child- and pet-safe options are available on request, with full safety data sheets supplied for commercial clients.

Documented in-house training

Every cleaner completes a structured in-house induction covering safe chemical handling, manual handling, infection control and customer-property care, with refresher training every 6 months.

GDPR & confidentiality

We handle keys, alarm codes and client information under a documented confidentiality policy and process all personal data in line with UK GDPR.

Need our documents for procurement?

We can supply our insurance certificate, RAMS, safety data sheets and DBS certificates for any commercial or main-contractor tender. Just contact us and we'll send everything within one working day.

1. General policy statement

Kriss Professional Cleaning is fully committed to ensuring, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare of all its employees, subcontractors, clients, and any members of the public who may be affected by our work activities. This commitment is central to how we operate and is embedded in every aspect of our cleaning services.

We recognise that effective health and safety management is an integral part of good business practice. We will proactively identify hazards, assess risks, and implement appropriate control measures to eliminate or reduce those risks to the lowest reasonably practicable level.

This policy has been written in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and all relevant subordinate legislation. It is reviewed annually and updated whenever significant changes occur in our operations, staffing, or working environment.

Risk areaControl measures
Slips, trips & fallsWet floor warning signs are placed immediately when mopping. Staff wear non-slip footwear at all times. Equipment and cables are stored safely and out of walkways. Floors are checked before and after cleaning.
Hazardous substances (COSHH)A COSHH assessment is completed for every chemical used. Safety Data Sheets are available for all chemicals. Staff are trained in correct dilution, application and disposal. Chemicals are stored in locked, labelled and ventilated areas and never decanted into unlabelled containers.
Manual handlingAll staff receive manual handling training before commencing employment. Heavy loads are broken down into manageable weights. Mechanical aids (trolleys, handles, wheeled equipment) are used wherever possible. Staff are encouraged to request assistance rather than risk injury.
Working at heightStep ladders and small platform steps are formally inspected before each use. Staff are instructed never to work at height alone. Ladders are only used for access — not as a working platform for extended periods. Alternative methods are always considered first.
Electrical safetyAll portable electrical equipment (vacuum cleaners, steamers, scrubbers) is PAT tested annually. Damaged cables or plugs are immediately taken out of service and reported. Staff are instructed never to use equipment near water sources without appropriate safeguards.
Lone workingStaff working alone must check in with the office at the start and end of each shift. A lone working policy and check-in procedure is in place. Emergency contact details are always carried. Lone workers are never sent to high-risk environments without a prior site assessment.
